Iṣẹ́ — diligence or purposeful work — is a moral signal. It shows you take responsibility seriously, that you contribute rather than only consume, and that you understand community life requires maintenance. Idleness without cause, chronic unreliability, and exploitation of others' labor all conflict with the Omoluabi ideal.

This is not hustle culture for its own sake. Rest matters. Exploitation of yourself or others is not diligence — it is disorder.

Craft, care, and completion

Diligence includes finishing what you start, doing work carefully when no one will inspect it, and improving skills that benefit others. A parent who shows up consistently, a student who studies with integrity, a tradesperson who does not cut corners — each embodies Iṣẹ́.
